Once again, MacKay provides us with a recital piece that grants pure satisfaction to both the performer and audience. Masterfully composed, MacKay's music offers a  fresh approach in a traditional style. Call it "neo-romantic", if you must, but MacKay has a unique style of his own. There are no "gimmicks" here. He doesn't need them. Using the musical elements the great master composers used, i.e. melody, harmony, rhythm... MacKay expresses himself in his own way. He brings the music part back into the phrase: "contemporary music".

Why does MacKay write the way he does? Because he can!
